Market Segments

Understanding the different market segments is vital for accurate booking and reporting. Each category represents a distinct type of guest or booking source, often with unique pricing and service considerations.

C1: Direct Corporate Bookings

These are bookings made directly (via email or phone) by companies without negotiated corporate rates. When creating a new company profile in iHMS for these bookings, ensure you assign the appropriate market segment.

C2: Agent-Booked Corporate

These bookings are made by travel agents on behalf of corporate clients, who may or may not have negotiated rates. Bookings can be made directly or via the GDS. This segment also includes consortia rates (10% off BAR) for preferred agencies (FCM, AMEX, Radius, etc.).

When handling chargebacks, carefully verify company details and update the iHMS booking if a negotiated (C3) rate exists. If the company is in iHMS but marked as C1, leave the agency details on the booking and DO NOT update to the company profile.

C3/C4: Negotiated Corporate Rates

Corporate bookings with pre-negotiated rates, encompassing both direct and GDS bookings. C3 designates smaller accounts, while C4 represents medium-sized accounts.

CSPECIAL: High-Volume Corporate

Reserved for high-volume corporate accounts with negotiated rates, such as Telstra, Australia Post, and GHD. These bookings can be made directly or via the GDS.

INT CORP: International Corporate

Bookings originating from the HGC website or an OTA, involving one guest staying from Sunday to Thursday nights.

INT LEISURE: International Leisure

Bookings from the HGC website or an OTA, with two guests staying throughout the week or one guest staying on Friday and Saturday nights.

DOMESTIC LEISURE

Domestic wholesale bookings made through allotments or free sale (e.g., FLIGHT CENTRE GLOBAL PRODUCT, Travelliance, Entertainment Card, Qantas Holidays) with negotiated wholesale rates. This segment also includes direct BAR and promotional rate bookings made via email or phone for leisure purposes, categorised as "Private Booking."

GOVT: Government

Bookings from State and Federal government departments, which may be made directly, through the AOT - Government channel (Federal Government), or via the GDS. Some government entities have negotiated corporate rates with specific inclusions. Always check company details in iHMS (tab 7) for any negotiated rates and apply inclusions accordingly.

CONFERENCE

Bookings for guests attending a conference hosted at the hotel.

INBOUND FIT & GROUP: International Travelers

Bookings from agents for individuals or groups traveling to Australia from international locations. Negotiated rates are tiered (Asia & Rest of the World). Many inbound agents have allotments for FIT (Free Independent Traveler) bookings.

Group bookings with up to 7 rooms are classified as Inb FIT, while those with 8 or more rooms are categorised as Inb Group.
